A New Direction for Glendale
Following the closure of its electric vehicle battery plant earlier this year, Ford has announced a new venture at its Glendale site focused on energy storage. The company is now hiring for its Ford Energy unit, which will manufacture lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic battery systems.
Project Details
- Target Market: The storage systems are designed for data centers, utilities, and other industrial customers.
- Production Goals: Ford aims to reach at least 20 GWh of annual output by late 2027.
- Employment Outlook: While the initial transition was difficult for the local workforce, Ford has begun filling management roles and expects to hire production operators in early 2027.
